Investigate issues sending or accepting MSN email

There are a few steps if a user is not able to receive or send MSN email. Some of the main steps you can take to fix these issues are:

To fix it rename .sdf(sync file) from the database folder.follow the instruction given below to rename the .sdf file
On Windows 8
  • Click start
  • Go to the upper right-hand corner and click search
  • Type   %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MSN
  •  MSN folder will open when enter is pressed
  • In MSN folder do the following:
  • Click ‘organize’ then ‘folder and search options’ on screen click ‘view’ tab.
  • Put a dot on ‘show hidden folders and files
  • Uncheck ‘hide extension for known file types’ and ‘hide protected operating system files options’
  • Click ‘apply’ then ‘OK’
Db30 folder will appear inside the MSN folder
  • Looks for files in a db30 folder that ends as MSN-com.sdf and MSN-com_JMF.sdf
  • Right-click, select rename and add .old after .sdf to both these files
  • Close db30 folder
Sign in MSN and wait for 30-40 minutes for emails to get synchronized
on Windows XP
  • Click on start and then click on ‘run’
  • Type in box  %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN
  • MSN folder will open when ok is clicked
  • In MSN folder do the following
  • Click ‘tools’, ‘folder options’ and then view
  • Put a dot on ‘show hidden files and folders’
  • Uncheck ‘hide extension for known file types’
  • Click apply then ok
Db30 folder will appear inside the MSN folder
  • Look for files MSN-com.sdf and MSN-com_JMF.sdfafter opening folder db30
  • Right-click choose ‘rename’ and add .old after .sdf to both these files
  • Close db30 folder
Sign into MSN and wait for 30-40 minutes for emails to get synchronized
